JourneyMind is a journal for parents. These are the rules for using it, written plainly. If something here is unclear, write to us at hello@journeymind.app and we’ll explain it.
JourneyMind is in private testing
The app is not publicly released. Features may change or be removed, the service may be unavailable, and — while we take care not to — data could be lost. Please don’t treat JourneyMind as the only copy of anything you would be upset to lose.
It is free to use during testing. If that changes, we will tell you before it does, and you will never be charged without agreeing first.
Who can use it
You must be 18 or older, live in the United States, and be a parent or legal guardian of any child you write about. Children do not use JourneyMind and cannot have accounts. The account is yours, and so is the responsibility for what goes in it.
Keep your password to yourself. Anything done from your account is treated as done by you.
What you write stays yours
Your notes, your photos, your children’s names — all of it remains yours. We claim no ownership of it and we do not sell it.
You do give us permission to do the things the product obviously has to do with it: store it, show it back to you, translate it when you ask, send the text to our processors so the weekly reflections and the personalised prompts can be generated, and lay it out into a printable album. That permission exists to run the service and nothing else, and it ends when the content is deleted. What happens to your content when you delete something is set out in our Privacy Policy.
What Insights is — and what it is not
Insights is a summary of what you wrote. It is not a developmental assessment, a diagnosis, or medical, psychological or educational advice. It does not score your child, does not compare them to other children, and is not evidence of anything.
Everything it shows is drawn from the notes you chose to write, in the words you chose to write them. That makes it a mirror of your own attention, with all the gaps and moods that come with it — a quiet month means you were busy, not that your child stopped being curious.
It is also produced with the help of automated language models, which sometimes get things wrong. If you are worried about your child’s development, health or wellbeing, please talk to a paediatrician, health visitor, teacher or another qualified professional. Nothing in JourneyMind is a substitute for that, and you should never delay seeking advice because of something this app did or didn’t show.
Fair use
Please don’t use JourneyMind to:
- write about a child you are not the parent or guardian of
- upload anything unlawful, or anything you don’t have the right to upload
- break into, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, or use it through anything other than the app
- resell it or pass your account to someone else
If an account is being used this way we may suspend or close it. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you first and give you a chance to get your content out.
Ending it
You can delete your account at any time from the app, under Account. What that removes and what it leaves is described in the Privacy Policy — please read that section before you do it, because it does not currently remove everything.
We may close an account that breaks these terms, or stop offering the service altogether. If we ever shut JourneyMind down, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to get your content out first.
No warranty, and the limits of what we owe you
JourneyMind is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. We don’t promise it will be available, error-free, or that what it produces will be accurate.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data or lost profits. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Changes
We may update these terms as the product changes. The date at the top always says when. If a change materially affects you, we will say so rather than quietly swapping the page. Continuing to use JourneyMind after a change means you accept it.
Where this applies
JourneyMind is offered in the United States only during testing. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing here takes away a right your own state’s consumer law gives you.
